The final seminar of Sustaffor project took place in Solsona on December 16th 2015. Duting the event, hosting more than 25 attendees, the project and its main results were presented and discussed. Prof. Jordi Cortina, from University of Alicante and head of the European Chapter of the Society for Ecological Restoration participated as guest speaker.

The seminar was completed with a visit to the Sustaffor field trials located in Solsona.

The number 245 of the FAO journal Unasylva includes an article titled “Forest landscape restoration experiences in southern Europe: sustainable techniques for enhancing early tree performance”, where Jaime Coello (CTFC), Jordi Cortina (UA), Alejandro Valdecantos (CEAM) and Elsa Varela (EFIMED) presented some experiences on forest restoration in southern Europe, including a note on Sustaffor project. During the seventh and final Sustaffor coordination meeting (3rd December 2015), held in Barcelona (Spain) the partners discussed the final project results and the format and final details of the dissemination and commercial exploitation products of the project.

During the third joint meeting of the working groups on Forest restoration of the Spanish Society of Forest Sciences (SECF) and the Spanish Association of Land Ecology (AEET) held in Lugo (Spain) in October 2015, Mr Jaime Coello (CTFC) delivered the oral communication “Eficacia y sostenibilidad en restauración forestal: nuevos acondicionadores y cubiertas del suelo“, prepared together with Pere Rovira, Carla Fuentes and Míriam Piqué (CTFC), on the preliminary results of Sustaffor field trials. During the Sixth Sustaffor coordination meeting (7-8th October 2015), held in Murugarren (Navarra, Spain) the partners discussed the available results of the project, and the main options for their dissemination and commercial exploitation. Moreover, they visited some landscaping reforestations performed by the public company GANASA using some of Sustaffor novel techniques.

During the Tenth SISEF (Research and innovation on forest resources management) congress, a major forestry event in Italy, held in Florence in September 2015, Mr Angelo Vitone delivered the oral communication “Nuove tecnologie pacciamanti e condizionatori del suolo per restauro forestale in ambiente Mediterraneo“, prepared together with Jaime Coello and Míriam Piqué (CTFC), on some preliminary results of a Sustaffor field trial in Solsona.
